Bowen International was founded in 1960 by Cornelius Bowen, specializing in Instrumentation and Control. In 1987 Bart Ward, a mechanical engineer who formerly owned Laurentian Valve, then Eastern Canada's major distributor of Swagelok products, purchased the Company.

Over the years Bowen has been involved in many projects large and small, including Pulp and Paper, Chemical, Petroleum, Petro-chemical and Food Products. And in particular with Newfoundland's Hibernia Oil Platform, then the world's largest construction project. Bowen's main focus today is on heat exchangers, equipment for storage tank management, plus specialty instrumentation products.
